NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi has left his official residence in Delhi. He handed over the keys to the house in Delhi's Tughlaq Line to the officials, where he had lived for a long time, after his disqualification from the post of MP. The belongings from the official residence were shifted to Sonia Gandhi's 10 Janpath yesterday. The former MP will then stay at Sonia Gandhi's residence.
After vacating the official residence where he had lived since becoming an MP in 2004, he told the media that this was the consequence of speaking the truth. The people of Hindustan had given me this house for 19 years and I am thankful to them. This is the price of telling the truth and I am ready to pay any price for the truth, added Rahul Gandhi.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat had instructed Rahul to vacate the residence by today in the case of disqualification. The Lok Sabha Secretariat had directed him to vacate the residence within a month after the Surat Magistrate Court found him guilty and sentenced him to two years imprisonment on March 23rd. Rahul got Tughlaq Line 12 as his official residence in 2004 when he first came to Parliament from Amethi. He has been living there ever since.
