THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Intelligence has stated in the leaked security plan that Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces a serious security threat in Kerala. The threat mainly comes from organizations like Popular Front, PDP, Welfare Party and Maoists. Intelligence Chief TK Vinod Kumar directed that extreme caution should be exercised.
The border conflict in the North West region is also a serious issue related to the Prime Minister's security. Terrorist organizations with international connections are likely to infiltrate through the coastal zone of Kerala. Some young women in Kerala have joined organizations like ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusr. The intelligence chief explained that the NIA's arrest of some youths from Kankamala in Kannur should be taken seriously.
The fact that the banned organisation Popular Front has its roots in Kerala is a security threat to the Prime Minister. Threats by PDP and Welfare Party should also be taken seriously. The activities of these organizations should be closely monitored. Many Maoists have been killed in retaliatory strikes by central agencies and various state agencies. A small percentage of those who have come to Kerala as labourers from the Maoist region and the North East pose a security threat.
There are indications that Maoist sympathizers are working in Kerala after infiltrating among migrant workers. There is Maoist presence in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts. The threat letter written in Malayalam warns of a suicide bomb attack on the Prime Minister.
'Information about possible protests and black flag demonstrations against the Prime Minister should be collected in advance. The enmity between CPM and RSS in Kerala, protests by student organizations against the central government, and ISIS links of those in Kerala should be taken seriously. Local conditions should also be taken into account for security,' the intelligence chief said.
