THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Centre has assessed that Prime Minister has a serious security threat after the security plan prepared by the state intelligence chief for PM Narendra Modi, who will arrive in Kochi tomorrow and the next day in Thiruvananthapuram, was leaked from the police.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) has taken over control and surveillance of the places visited by the Prime Minister. IG Suresh Raj Purohit came to Kerala for this purpose. SPG chief Arun Kumar Sinha will come and assess the situation.

The seriousness of the matter was increased when threats to assassinate the Prime Minister through suicide attacks were also received. The security plan was circulated on social media and in the WhatsApp group of policemen. The message also had an intelligence report that said that there were threats from various organizations, including two parties in favor of the state administration. The intelligence wing prepared a new security plan and handed it over to the SPG.

Modi's programs will be surrounded by more than 5000 policemen in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Policemen with criminal connections and troublemakers were avoided. On the 17th, the BJP state committee office received a letter in the name of a retired officer in Kochi saying that what happened to Rajiv Gandhi in Tamil Nadu will happen to Modi. On investigation, it was found that it was sent by someone else, but the SPG asserted that the threat of a terrorist attack cannot be dismissed lightly. The police chief and chief secretary met SPG and IB officials. Meanwhile, central agencies have started an investigation into the leak of the security plan.
