THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan demanded that the government should release a detailed figure, including the actual cost of the AI cameras installed on various roads to detect traffic violations in the state and the cost incurred for installation.
"There are many doubts and mysteries about this among the public. The government says that 726 cameras have been installed at a cost of 236 crores. The price of a camera is around 33 lakhs. It is unbelievable that such a huge amount was spent on a camera. The Transport Department and the police are giving exaggerated and unbelievable information about AI cameras, similar to the myths spread by Sangh Parivar regarding the Rs 2000 currency that was released after demonetisation," Satheesan said.
