KOTTAYAM: Former Pathanamthitta district president of Kerala Congress (Joseph faction) and UDF district chairman Victor T Thomas joined the BJP on Sunday. BJP state president K Surendran and state-in-charge Prakash Javadekar attended the event and welcomed him to the party.
Victor T Thomas criticized UDF after this. “Those who could not even become panchayat members wanted to contest in the Assembly election. They defeated me. The states can be satisfied only if there is a strong government at the centre. It requires Narendra Modi's strong leadership," he said.
Victor T Thomas resigned from the party last Monday. He said that his resignation was because ordinary workers were unable to work for the party and it was under the control of some leaders. Victor T Thomas was the UDF district chairman for 20 years and the president of the Kozhenchery panchayat for 10 years. He contested twice from Thiruvalla constituency as a UDF candidate but could not win. He tried to get Thiruvalla seat in the last election but it was refused. He was dissatisfied with this.
