THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Warning that heat will increase in seven districts of the state. High-temperature warning has been issued in Kozhikode, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts and a yellow alert has been announced in these seven districts. According to the Central Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature can rise to 39°C in Palakkad district, 38°C in Kottayam, 37°C in Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts, 36°C (2 to 4°C more than normal) in Ernakulam, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts.


The yellow alert was issued due to high temperature and humid air. Apart from the hilly areas, hot and unsettled weather is likely in these districts. The Central Meteorological Department updated that light to moderate rain with thundershowers at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph are likely in some districts during the next three hours. Rain warning has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
