KOCHI: The two complainants who brought out the scam in the LIFE mission will be rewarded with Rs 10,000 each, said ombudsman Justice P S Gopinathan. The order was passed to the local self-government department.
The two found fraud in the selection of beneficiaries for the Life Mission project in Ranni Perunad panchayat and in Neyyatinkara municipality. The ombudsman also gave instructions to the state election commission to disqualify the elected representatives in these two locations. The police will also register a criminal case against the two representatives and the former panchayat secretary.
G N Celin brought out the fraud in Neyyatinkara while G G Samuelkutty unveiled how the authorities showed bias in allotting names to the LIFE scheme in Ranni. Both of them were rewarded Rs 10,000 each. Meanwhile, a detailed search also found a total of 14 undeserving people being stuffed into the LIFE mission list.
