THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the Prime Minister's visit, the capital city will be under tight security today and tomorrow. Apart from the state police, the capital will be under the strict surveillance of the SPG and IB.
The Prime Minister's Security has taken over control of the Central Railway Station where the Prime Minister will flag off the Vande Bharat Express. The main counters and platforms 1, 2 and 3 will not function till the end of the PM's visit. Passengers will have access only through the gate on Powerhouse Road. Most of the trains end service at the nearest stations and depart from there. The nearby Thampanoor bus station will also be closed for three hours from 8 am on Tuesday. Services will be shifted to Vikas Bhavan Depot. Security has also been beefed up near the central stadium where the public meeting will be held. All tall buildings around the stadium are under police control. The Special Protection Group will be monitoring here today and tomorrow. A special system has been put in place to monitor all vehicles entering the city. The police are also collecting information regarding people staying in lodges and hotels.
Traffic restrictions will be imposed in the city tomorrow. There will be restrictions on the road from Shangumugham to Thampanoor and from Bakery Junction to Central Stadium from 7 am to 2 pm. Vehicle parking is not allowed on both sides of the roads. The police have also said that the parked vehicles will be removed using a recovery vehicle.
