PALAKKAD: A man was trampled to death by a tusker in Attappady on Monday. The dead has been identified as Rangan of Thekkupana. He was attacked by the elephant when he went to collect cashews in the forest. His body was found in a search conducted after he went missing.
One person was killed in an elephant attack in Attappady in February. Nanchan (60) of Puthoor Mulli Kuppam Adivasi colony was the dead. The elephant attacked him when he went to the forest to cut grass. The elephant kicked him in his chest. The local residents heard the noise and chased the elephant away.
One person was injured in elephant attack in Palakkad last week. Sanju Mathew was injured while trying to chase away the tusker when it came near his house. The elephant turned towards Sanju while it was destroying a machine kept there. When Sanju tried to drive away the elephant, it lifted Sanju with its trunk. It threw Sanju into a nearby pit after the locals rushed and raised a ruckus. Sanju was seriously injured due to the impact of the fall.
