THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Keltron MD’s anomalous statements are proof of corruption in the AI traffic camera business, said congress leader Ramesh Chennithala. The leader also revealed further detail contradicting the MD’s claim.

According to the April 27, 2020 deal, a tender process was fixed for five years for AI cameras and facility management. However, while signing a contract with the company, the term was deliberately omitted giving the contract at Rs 151 crore. Later, the cost was allocated for facility management making the private firm earn an additional 81 crores. Ramesh Chennithala challenged Keltron to reveal the details of the tender process.

Keltron meanwhile in a press release admitted to not giving sub-contracts to private companies but stated the project as theirs. Later, Keltron MD N Narayanamurthy said the contract was given to SRIT company and tried unhooking from the quibble saying it is not Keltron's responsibility if SRIT allows the contract to other private players.

He alleged the decision to hike the project cost from Rs 151 crore to Rs 232 crore was taken to enable private firms to extract undue profits. Neither the government nor the contracting companies have any investments in the project.
