KOCHI: When the religious leaders asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for direct intervention in the issues facing the Christian community, the Prime Minister assured that he would take a sympathetic approach. The meeting took place at the Taj Malabar Hotel in Wellington Island last night. The meeting lasted for 48 minutes. Eight Christian religious leaders participated in the meeting.

Church leaders expressed concern over the recurring atrocities against Christians in North Indian states. They also raised issues, including falling prices in the agricultural sector.

The Prime Minister assured that he would try to address the concerns of the minorities. Violence against Christians, even if isolated, should be avoided. He said that he is giving importance to the country and not to the communities. Joseph Gregorios, Metropolitan Trustee of the Jacobite Church, said that the Prime Minister took a sympathetic approach to the demands of the Christian community.
