THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome in the capital city when he arrived as part of his two-day visit to the state to attend various programmes and launch several projects, including flagging off of the Vande Bharat Express. The Prime Minister, who was in Kochi yesterday, reached Thiruvananthapuram today at around 10.20 am. People had been waiting on the roads where the cavalcade would pass since morning to catch a glimpse of Modi.

The Prime Minister went to Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station for a road show addressing the people lined up on the road. The PM waved to the people from the side of the car. People who were waiting with flowers showered flowers as his vehicle passed by.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Mayor Arya Rajendran, Dr Shashi Tharoor MP and Minister Antony Raju received the Prime Minister at the airport. He then reached Thampanoor railway station where thousands gathered around the station to see him. The Prime Minister was given a grand welcome at the Thampanoor Railway Station under the leadership of the chief minister. He moved to the stage for the flag-off ceremony after interacting with the officials who were standing to receive him. He then boarded the Vande Bharat train and interacted with 42 selected students in C2 coach of the train. Talked to the loco pilots and then flagged off Kerala's first Vande Bharat Express.
