THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of Digital Science Park. He also inaugurated the Kochi Water Metro along with the projects worth Rs 3,200 crore in the ceremony held in Central Stadium.

The Prime Minister also initiated a project to upgrade Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala Sivagiri and Kozhikode railway stations to international standards. Modi also inaugurated the renovation works of railway stations.

The Prime Minister started his speech in Malayalam. "The central government is taking strong steps to increase the travel facilities. Vande Bharat train is a symbol of aspirational India. Expats will also get the benefits of the country's development. I meet Keralites whenever I visit foreign countries”, said Modi.

“Kerala got its first Vande Bharat train today and Kochi Water Metro also started. Several developmental works related to railways have also begun. The people of Kerala are educated and are aware of the situations in the country and abroad. So, you know what is going on in the world and the country. The development potential of India has been recognized all over the world. One reason for that is the central government. If Kerala develops, then India will develop faster”, he added.

"The development projects of the state are starting today. The completed projects are being dedicated to the nation today. We are all very happy that the honorable Prime Minister himself has reached Kerala for this”, said the Chief Minister. He also thanked Modi for granting Vande Bharat.

After flagging off the state's first Vande Bharat train, Modi came to the Central Stadium to inaugurate various projects. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded that the Vande Bharat train will provide a better travel experience. He added that the speed will accelerate within two years.

The Prime Minister reached Thiruvananthapuram by 10.30 am. Tight security was deployed due to death threat. The security plan was prepared jointly by the Special Protection Force (SPG) and the Central Intelligence Bureau (IB). Top IB officials are also in the capital city.
