Last day Chengara native Samuel was bitten by a snake during sleep. He is undergoing treatment. A cow from a farm in Attachakkal died following a snake bite. The snakes can live in a normal temperature of up to 28 degrees. When the temperature increases, the snakes seek cooler places to maintain their body temperature. As per the reports of Forest department, 450 people have died due to snake bites in the state in the last five years.
Destruction of habitats
According to experts, habitat destruction is the main reason for snakes to enter homes and other places. Degradation of lake beds, encroachment of forests, and increase in buildings play a major role in the destruction of habitat for snakes. Snakes usually stay in cool places like water tanks, bathrooms, and stairwells.
