THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first Vande Bharat train in the state this morning. A few invited people including religious, and socio-political leaders, celebrities, and students participated in the first trip and they got sumptuous food on the train.

The authorities welcomed their passengers with chips, murukku, sweets, and frooti. Then in the afternoon veg biryani was served which was accompanied by pickle, salad, and payasam.


A full-time passenger on the Vandebharat train will get food worth Rs 350. It is also possible to buy tickets without food included. IRCTC will provide food for Rs 290 in a chair car on Kasaragod- Thiruvananthapuram long journey route. 350 rupees is charged on the executive class, which will have an extra menu including juice. 65 rupees is the food charge for short distance journey in chair car and 105 rupees is charged in executive class.
