THODUPUZHA: The student, who was in critical condition after drowning while bathing in the canal, died. Badusha (13), the son of Karimannoor native Rahim, who was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Aluva Rajagiri Hospital is the one who passed.
The child drowned in the water and became unconscious while bathing in the Edavetty Canal last afternoon. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Thodupuzha but was taken to Rajagiri Hospital in an ICU ambulance as he was in critical condition. On the way, he was admitted to another hospital in the city when the condition became serious again, and after receiving emergency treatment, he left for Rajagiri Hospital once more. The ambulance was accompanied by a traffic police vehicle from Thodupuzha to avoid traffic jams on the road.
Following the wireless message given by the Thodupuzha police, Vazhakulam, Moovatupuzha and Perumbavoor police also made arrangements for the ambulance to pass through without any obstruction on the road. Ambulance driver Ajax Baby of Thodupuzha rushed the child to Rajagiri Hospital within 35 minutes, but his life could not be saved.
