KOCHI: Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan said that the documents prove that the tender process for buying artificial intelligence (AI) cameras is not transparent. In the press conference, he asked to clarify who is behind 'Prasadia' who is getting a profit share in the consortium without paying any money, and also their political connection.
Of the four companies that participated in the tender, Gujarat Infotech Limited was rejected, while Keltron awarded the contract to SRIT among the remaining three companies. Ashoka Buildcon was second and Akshara Enterprises was third. Ashoka Buildcon is the company subcontracted by SRIT for K-Phone. The opposition also has proof that Akshara Enterprises is connected with SRIT. Two other companies were exploited so that SRIT will get the tender.
SRIT won the tender through an indirect route and entered into a consortium agreement with two firms. According to the agreement, the other two companies have to invest and undertake the work. It was also stipulated that 6 percent of the total amount, which is 9 crores, should be paid to SRIT as a commission. Prasadia, which does not invest, has to be paid a 60 percent dividend.
The director of the company at Technopark, which provides technical support to SRIT, is the director of the joint venture between Uralungal and SRIT. He said that the documents have come out that Kannur-based corrupt companies are behind the fraud, and the next steps will be decided by the UDF and KPCC meetings on the 27th.
