KOLLAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan has released documents related to the purchase of AI cameras by the Motor Vehicles Department, alleging that there were huge irregularities. Evidence has been released that Keltron signed the contract with SRIT by subverting all the conditions of the tender document for which EOI was invited.

"The campaign that a vigilance probe was ordered in the camera controversy is misleading. The Joint Commissioner for Transport is being investigated for alleged corruption, including in transfers, which began in May 2022. The news about the probe came out after I sent a letter to the Chief Minister yesterday morning asking him to release the information related to the AI camera,' Satheesan said

Satheesan asked why the cabinet meeting held on April 12 gave approval to the project and why the chief minister inaugurated it if a vigilance investigation is going on.

Violations of tender documents

  1. The main clause in the tender document is that there should be no sub-contracting in terms of data security, data utilization, operational coordination and operation of machinery. If there is agreement on other matters, information should be given for the same . Keltron can accept or reject subcontracts. SRIT awarded subcontracts against all this.
  2. Tenders should be given only to vendors of camera manufacturing companies and companies with technical and financial capability, but SRIT was awarded the contract, which had none.
  3. SRIT won the tender in association with Trois and Media Tronics due to the lack of technical expertise.

Letter given to Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VD Satheesan has written to the Chief Minister demanding disclosure of the full details of the AI camera deal.

The letter requests that government orders, the agreement made with Keltron by the Department of Transport, the tender process conducted by Keltron, the note file and current file related to the contract should be made available. The 232 crore contract is shrouded in mystery.
