THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan will jointly lead the campaign to make Kerala completely litter free. On May 2, the Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition will speak online to the representatives of the local bodies up to the ward members to sensitize the people about litter-free Kerala. In the meeting presided over by Minister MB Rajesh, activities in this regard were formulated.

Extensive plans have been formulated to make Kerala a litter-free state by March 31, 2024. The meeting also decided to complete the first phase of work on June 5. All offices in the state will be declared green offices on June 5.

Institutions including schools will also be cleaned before June 5. A source waste management system will be implemented to treat organic waste in all government offices. Inorganic waste should be handed over to the Haritha Karma Sena on payment of user fee. A green protocol officer will be appointed in the office.
