THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The transport department will consider the complaint requesting not to charge fine from parents riding two-wheelers with their child. The Motor Vehicles Department has been directed to check whether the demand is legal.
After the installation of AI cameras to detect traffic violators in the state, the rule that only two people on two-wheelers was made strict. As law and fines are all over the country, it is not possible for the state alone to avoid this. Therefore, the state may approach the center to consider it. It is hinted that Kerala will forward the proposal of one child with parents, or two children with father or mother.
The state committee of two-wheeler users association had yesterday demanded that parents on two-wheelers with their own child should not be fined for violating the law. Many houses are nuclear families. More and more people depend on two-wheelers due to financial constraints. The association also pointed out that imposing fines on two-wheelers carrying children cannot be justified.
