NEW DELHI: Indian Olympic Association chief P T Usha slammed the protest by wrestlers in front of Jantar Mantar. She said the protest “amounts to indiscipline” and called it puerile for the wrestlers to lack the patience to wait until the report comes out.

"The players should not have protested on the streets. They should have at least waited for the report of the committee. What they have done is not good for the game and the country. It is a negative approach," Ms Usha said.

in a retort, ace Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia said he expected support from the legend but not such words of criticism.

The protesting wrestlers have grouped for a second time in Delhi after the government showed lax moving against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh after complaints came pouring about sexual abuse from the BJP leader.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who appeared for the Delhi police reiterated the police stand of a preliminary investigation before registering an FIR. The wrestlers have called for an FIR against Singh or else warned about a more vigorous protest in the national capital. The supreme court will consider the plea from women wrestlers on Friday and will possibly ask the police to file the affidavit and the reports collected for the preliminary investigation.
