THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Railways has said that the cancelled trains will start running from Friday as the repair of the overbridge between Karukutty-Chalakkudy railway stations was completed last night. Meanwhile, Bengaluru-Eranakulam Junction Express (12677) has been cancelled today as part of controlling the schedule of trains. Several people faced difficulties as 21 trains, including long-distance ones, were cancelled in the past few days. As a result, a huge rush was seen in buses, including KSRTC long-distance services.

The Railways stated that work on modernizing tracks for trains, including Vande Bharat is underway. It also clarified that some trains will have to be cancelled in the coming days as well as part of the works.

The Railways has also started a feasibility study to straighten the curves that are posing a challenge to the speed of the trains. There are 620 curves in the 560 km from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod. 210 of these are sharp curves. The feasibility study is done to straighten these curves. Space constraints are a challenge for straightening large curves. A study has also been started under the leadership of the Ministry of Railways regarding land acquisition for this purpose.

One meter of the track will be made using 60 kg of iron. It will last for a long time. At present, 45 kg of iron is used for one meter of the track.
