THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The first batch of Keralites being rescued for Sudan reached Kerala in Indian government Operation Kaveri. Eight of the group landed in Kochi while three people reached Thiruvananthapuram.
Among the eight in Kochi also included Cybella, wife of Albert who died in Sudan during cross-firing between military and rebels. Alberts's daughter Mareeta also accompanied her mother. Meanwhile, Thomas Varghese and his family reached Thiruvananthapuram airport on Vistara Airlines. The Norka roots representatives welcomed the evacuees at both airports. The airfare for the families from Delhi to Kerala was covered by the state government.
Another batch of Malayali evacuees has reached New Delhi. They are currently provided stay in Kerala house. The team will travel to Kerala tomorrow to Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram airports respectively.
