KOCHI: The body of the migrant worker who went missing in the Perumbavoor Plywood Company accident, has been obtained. The dead is Naseer Hussain (22), a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal. The body was found after a day of rescue operations.
The migrant worker went missing after he fell into the deep pit full of plywood waste that caught fire on Thursday morning. The accident occurred at a plywood factory at Odakkali around 7 am. He was a security staff at the factory.
Seeing smoke emanating from the pit, Nazeer went to pour water over it. However, he slipped and fell into it. Though other workers tried to douse the fire, the flames engulfed the pit.
The fire brigade personnel from Perumbavoor, Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha searched for him till 6 pm but could not find him. The search was conducted at night with the help of four earthmoving machines. The company belongs to T P Muhammad T P, a native of Odakkali.
