THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The child rights commission has registered a case on the issue where a 14-year-old sexual abuse victim fainted to death in her home. Commission chief Manoj Kumar K V showed concern about the rampant use of marijuana and banned drugs among minors, especially in school-going girls. The commission called NCC and other affiliated student organizations to form a bulwark against drug use in schools. From now, a child rights ambassador will be selected from schools to lead by example.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to confirm the drug use of the victim. The girl stayed along with her police officer father and mother in police quarters. The district crime branch officers as part of the case reached the school of the victim and took statements from the teachers.

Opposition leader V D Satheeshan expressed shock at the death of the 14-year-old girl in the capital city. He also presaged fear in the state-employed tactics to quell such drug usage among students.
