CHARUMMOODU: The Nooranad police have arrested a youth for sexually abusing a woman after promising to marry her. The arrested youth has been identified as Nooranad Palamel native Anshad (29).

The accused met the woman, an engineering graduate, through Instagram. Following this, the two fell in love. Later, he took her to his house in Adikattukulangara and sexually abused her after promising to marry her. After some days, he forcefully took her to a homestay in Maradu and sexually abused her.

In the meantime, the woman got suspicious as Anshad started to avoid her questions regarding marriage. The woman lodged a complaint with the Maradu police after the accused threatened to kill her and her parents if she told anyone about the sexual abuse.

Following this, the Nooranad police conducted an investigation and arrested Anshad from Adoor. According to the police, the accused had trapped several women in this way. They also found pictures of several women on his phone. Anshad, who was produced in the Mavelikara court, has been remanded.
