NEDUMBASSERY: Rs 1.4 crore worth of gold was seized from three passengers who reached the international airport in Kochi. Palakkad natives Hakim, Zubair, and Thrissur native Nizamuddin were caught by the customs air intelligence division at the airport.

Hakim arrived from Doha on Air India Express and had in him Rs 39 lakh worth of gold hidden in his posterior. Zubair meanwhile shrouded the gold into capsules which were worth around Rs 44 lakh. Nizamuddin had 1063 gm of gold worth Rs 57 lakhs. Nizamuddin arrived in Kochi from Dubai through emirates airlines. The three were later released on bail while the customs started a detailed investigation into the issue.
