THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst a continuing sweltering summer, rains hit Kerala for the first time this season giving a much-needed relief to the people. Meanwhile, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur have been put on orange alert after the IMD predicted the rain garnering speed in the coming days.

The department also presaged about the rains continuing for five days in the state. The whirlwind formed on the shores of Lakshadweep is the mainspring for the sudden rains that visited Kerala amidst the insufferable heat. IMD also restricted fishing activities in Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep shores.

According to reports. Kerala will receive moderate rainfall in the next three hours with many districts being placed on yellow alert.
