THRISSUR: A major fire broke out at a coffin making shop. The fire broke out at the shop in Nehru Bazar, Nayarangadi in Thrissur around 3:30 am. Reports said the coffins kept inside were almost completely burnt in the fire. It is believed that the fire started when a gas cylinder in a nearby tea shop exploded and spread to the shop where the coffins were kept. Four units of fire brigade arrived and extinguished the fire. A major tragedy was averted as no one was in the shop since it was early morning. The loss has not been estimated.
Almost ten acres of barren field was destroyed in the fire at Pazhankavu in Vadakara. This place earlier harvested is covered with forest now. The fire was noticed by the locals at night and they immediately informed the fire force. The fire spread was doused after a great difficulty. The locals also helped the fire fighters to douse the flames.
