THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl in the capital is taking new turns. The investigation is currently focused on the police quarters area where the family lived. The crime branch assistant commissioner and his team reached the quarters and took statements from neighbors and locals nearby.
After completing the exams on March 30th, the girl reached her home only to faint inside after some hours. She was rushed to the hospital and died while in treatment on April 1. The initial reports pointed to the girl suffering much sexual abuse from an unknown assailant. The statements from her close friends were also recorded by the investigation team. However, the assistant commissioner busted the fiction of the girl being an addict to banned drugs.
The postmortem report neither mentions any drug use in the victim. The preliminary report point out the effect of the breakage of veins in brains which led to clotting inside the cerebrum. In normal cases, drug addicts when bereft of their usual dosages fall into hypertension leading to the breakage of veins inside the brain. A detailed chemical test report awaits a final conclusion about the exact cause of death.
The girl used to travel to school on a police bus. Such that any abuse at school or the way back is a long shot. The investigation team stresses about the assailant being inside the police quarters. The girl's mobile phone is being doxed and the frequent callers are being scrutinized. The team says it is nearing the final stages and will make the arrest in the coming days.
The family lived a happy life in police quarters. Her mother's routine evening walks were the only time the girl was left alone inside the quarters. The police thus fear any abuse or attack during these hours. The CCTV videos will be checked to find if anyone made a sneak into the room during this time. The girl excelled in her studies and carried a good camaraderie with her parents.
