THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The AI camera project was spearheaded by outsourced companies Presidio Technologies and Trois Infotech, and it was the heads of these companies who controlled other companies including project implementation. The deal became mysterious when Keltron and the government concealed their presence even though it was present from the beginning of the project. The government had claimed that Keltron was in charge of everything.

The Department of Motor Vehicles awarded the project to Keltron, who handed it over to SRIT. Lacking the technical expertise to directly participate in the tender, SRIT roped in Trois Infotech and Mediatronix. The contract thus won was later handed over to Presidio Technologies. Presadio tied up with Alhind Group in Kozhikode, with Light Master in Thiruvananthapuram when they pulled out, and with eCentric Solutions when they also pulled out. So Presidio took the helm with financial support from E-Centric Solutions and technical support from Trois and Mediatronics. The heads of these companies have connections with prominent political leaders also.

Affiliation with SRIT

Jitesh, MD of Trois, said that SRIT and Uralungal are tied up. He was a director of the Uralungal-SRIT Joint Company. Jitesh said he had served as the chief executive director of Uralungal and was also the executive director of SRIT and was not currently associated with Uralungal or the combined company. Jitesh also said that he is collaborating with SRIT in connection with the Safe Kerala project.

AG report next week

The AG's preliminary investigation report on the AI camera deal will be submitted next week. If recommended for a detailed audit, the AG will scrutinize Keltron's big projects, including the AI camera deal, in detail. The inspection report of the Industries Department will also be given next week. The AG's audit team had started the preliminary inspection from the 27th in the background of allegations of corruption in the AI camera project.

The AG will enter into a detailed audit of the contract if it determines that the government has suffered a loss through Keltron's subcontracting. A separate audit is conducted in the financial transactions of public sector organizations every financial year, but in the context of the controversial AI camera transaction, the front-line team was tasked with the audit.
