ALUVA: Four people including a grade SI and his son have been arrested in the incident in which two Odisha natives were earlier caught with 28 kg of ganja brought on a train.

Thadiyittaparambu police station grade SI Sajan (56), son Naveen (21), Arayykappadi native Anns (22), and Perumbavoor native Basil Thomas (22) were arrested by Aluva police.

Sajan, who has more than three decades of service in the department, is due to retire on May 30.

SP’s special squad had earlier arrested Odisha natives Rajinikanth Malik and Chak Dol Pradhan and Sharmanand Pradhan, who brought ganja to Perumbavoor for Naveen. Although Naveen had reached the railway station, he escaped when he came to know that the carriers were caught. Naveen was already accused in five drug cases. He fled to Abu Dhabi after the incident and the police arrested him tactically by bringing him back to Kerala. Sajan was arrested for trying to help his son to escape even after knowing that he is an accused.
