KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday rejected a plea seeking an urgent stay on the release of the film 'The Kerala Story'. It was an office-bearer of Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle NGO who filed the petition in the court seeking a stay on the screening of the film. The court questioned the petitioner over whether the dialogue from the movie's teaser could be regarded as representing the entire aim of the movie. The court also asked whether a film can be judged by seeing the teaser alone.
The court, which sought an explanation from the Censor Board on the plea, adjourned the plea to Friday. The petitioner claimed that 'The Kerala Story' contains multiple scenes intended to disparage Kerala and that the Censor Board has only so far removed 10 of these scenes. The petitioner demanded that the hate speech in the film be removed and the Censor Board's action issuing an A certificate for the film should be cancelled.
