THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the allegations of corruption in the artificial intelligence camera issue are getting directed towards the Chief Minister and his office, the government and the CPM are on the defensive The increasing mysteries surrounding the AI camera project are becoming a matter of headache for the government and the CPM. The ruling party is fearing that people may start to protest when fines will be slapped for traffic violations detected by the AI cameras from May 19 onwards. This will also become a political weapon for the opposition.
Although it has been twelve days since the allegations were raised, there has been no response from the government or the contractor, Keltron, to refute them. Opposition leader VD Satheesan and former leader Ramesh Chennithala are constantly releasing evidence questioning the explanation given by Keltron MD and the documents released by Keltron. The mystery is increasing with neither the government nor Keltron giving a precise answer to the questions such as how the project that could be completed at 73 crore rupees brought the liability of 232 crore.
The controversy is intensifying around the companies that won subcontracts from Keltron. The most important one is about the company called Prasadio. The mystery surrounding the company is prompting the opposition to focus the allegations towards the chief minister and his office. While opposition leader VD Satheesan raised an allegation in this regard on Tuesday, BJP leader Sobha Surendran even went on to allege that Prasadio was the benami company of a close relative of the CM.
