KOLLAM: As the Supreme Court clarified that it would not interfere in the Karnataka government's demand for huge expense to accompany Abdul Nazer Mahdani to Kerala, his family is taking further legal action. The plan is to approach the Supreme Court again with details of the cost.

The Karnataka government has demanded Rs 56.23 lakh along with the salary of armed police personnel accompanying Mahdani, TA, and DA.

The decision of Mahdani and his family is not to come to Kerala by paying such amount. The family said they are going to legal action again, asking for a reduction in costs as this could become a precedent. Apart from Rs 56 lakh, the Karnataka Police has also verbally directed to provide the expenses like accommodation and food of the security personnel.

In 2017, when he came for his son's wedding, the Karnataka government imposed a fee of Rs 15 lakh for ten days. After approaching the Supreme Court, it was reduced to 1.14 lakhs. In 2018, when he came to see his mother, he paid only 2.18 lakhs for the escort expenses.
