THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For five days from now, Kerala will receive strong rainfall with thundering lightning. The IMD confirmed the presence of a whirlwind-like phenomenon in the turbulent Bay of Bengal. The whirlwind can easily morph into a cyclone and is not a long shot away from reaching the Kerala shores.
On Saturday, the cyclone will take shape in the deep sea of Bengal. The tectonic effect will soon make strong currents and will travel north to reach Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The deep sea fishing activities in both states have been restricted on this account.
Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram have been placed on yellow alert. The rain is expected to travel at a speed of 40km per hour. IMD says the sudden downpour amidst the summer will continue till May 7 of this month.
