THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is studying legal ways to freeze the contract with Keltron to help come out of the mire of accusations raised by opposition parties. The details of the AI camera contract have been passed to the law department. The government is also checking legal possibilities to announce a judicial probe in the case.

Meanwhile, the accountant general’s investigation into the case has reached the second level.AG will delve deep into the sub-contract given by Keltron to a private firm in establishing AI cameras in the state. The exact cost of AI cameras in the market will be compared with the money mentioned in the contracts.

The industrial department has also passed to the second level in the probe. The government will seek reports of investigation from these two departments before acting further on the issue. Until the report comes out, the working of the AI camera will remain stalled.

According to a 2018 circular, any sub-contract given by a government undertaking department should seek approval from the necessary department before moving ahead with the scheme. However, in this case, the Keltron went unilateral in its decision to allow subcontract to private companies.
