RAIPUR: Ten members of a family died in a car accident in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh. Several people, including a child, were injured. The accident occurred around midnight when a Bolero jeep collided with a truck on the Kanker National Highway near Jagtara. It is reported that 10 people died on the spot.

The accident happened to a family who were going to Markatola from Soram. The jeep is completely damaged. The police and locals worked hard to get the people trapped inside the vehicle out. It is not clear how the accident happened. It is believed that the truck driver may have fallen asleep which led to the accident. The police have started an investigation for the driver who fled after the accident. Steps have also been taken to collect details from the survivors. Some of the injured are in critical condition and they were shifted to a hospital in Raipur for better treatment.

Expressing shock and dismay at the accident, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wished speedy recovery to those undergoing treatment. He said that an investigation will be conducted.
