KANNUR: A couple accused of murdering a college student in an apartment at Kottampatti Gauri Nagar in Pollachi have been arrested in Kannur. The Kannur police arrested Sujay (30), a native of Edayarpalayam, and his Malayali wife Reshma (25). The dead is Subbalakshmi (20), a native of Edayarpalayam in Coimbatore and a graduate student of a private college. Unconfirmed reports said Sujay was the lover of the dead.

Subbalakshmi was found stabbed to death on May 2. The Mahalingapuram police found the body after being informed by the neighbours who heard the screams of the girl from the apartment of Sujay, an online trader.

Sujay and Reshma fled in a bike after the murder. The police conducted a search on the instructions of the ACP after information obtained that the two had entered Kannur. The two were nabbed from a lodge early Thursday morning. The two have been handed over to the Tamil Nadu police.
