KASARGOD: Arun Vidyadharan (32), accused of cyber-bullying his former friend, who committed suicide in Kottayam, has been found hanging. He was found hanging in a lodge at Kanhangad in Kasargod. The police confirmed that it was Arun from the identity card obtained from the place.

Arun went into hiding soon after V M Athira (26) of Kothanallur, ended her life following cyber bullying by Arun. The police could not trace him even after a search conducted. His mobile phone was found to be switched off. The district police chief K Karthik had issued a look notice for him. The youth congress activists had yesterday besieged the Kaduthuruthy police station alleging lapses in the investigation.

Asish Das, sub-collector in Manipur was her brother-in-law. She was found hanging on Monday morning. Athira had severed ties with Arun a year ago following mental harassment. The two were neighbours. She was a victim of cyber bullying and online harassment. Athira’s ‘pennu kanal’ function was on Sunday. Knowing that, he shared her photos on social media. She lodged a complaint against him. The police called Arun and asked him to report to the station on Monday morning. Still, he did not withdraw. He hurled abuses on Asish Das via Facebook. She took the drastic step following this. Asish Das informed the police her mental condition.

Athira was a web designer in a private firm in Kottayam. When her mother woke her up on Monday morning at 6.30 am, she said that she wants to sleep for some more time and then closed the door. She was found hanging later.
