IMPHAL: Governor Anusuiya Uikey gives shoot-at-site permission in conflict-ridden Manipur. The state home department issued a shoot-at-site order as the conflict did not subside. The order was sent for approval and was signed by the governor.

The army was deployed to control the conflict. Last night, troops carried out a route march in the conflict zone, but attacks continued today as well. Prohibitory orders remain in place in many districts. Curfew has been announced in districts like Imphal West, Kakching, Thoubal, Jiribam, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.

The minority tribal groups started protesting against the High Court's proposal to declare the majority community Meitei as a Scheduled Tribe. Thousands of people participated in the tribal solidarity march called by the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSM) yesterday and the two sides clashed meanwhile. There are reports that the protesters set fire to several houses and the offices of the forest department.
