MUNNAR: A rock fell from the hill and hit the vehicle, injuring the driver. The accident took place on the Periyavara road on the Munnar-Udumalpet inter-state highway. The huge boulder that came rolling down from the hill hit the driver's seat of the car. Driver Anthony Raj, a native of Suryanelli, sustained serious leg injuries in the accident. The injured driver was admitted to Munnar Tata High Range Hospital.

The accident occurred while Anthony Raj was traveling to Munnar town after dropping the tourists at Rajamala. The rock that fell from the hill hit the dirt mound above the road and split it in two. Then a part bounced and hit the driver's seat of the car in which Anthony Raj was traveling. As a result of the impact, the vehicle skidded off the road and crashed into a nearby dirt mound. After hitting the car, the rock fell into the Periyavara river. The fire brigade and the locals pulled out the injured. Eyewitnesses inform that a major accident was avoided by luck.
