THRISSUR: A youth killed her lover brutally in Thumboormuzhi forest in Athirappilly. The accused Akhil told police that he strangled her with a shawl and confirmed her death after stamping her neck with his boots. He also admitted that he was in a relationship with Athira. Akhil said that he took Athira in the car saying that he would leave her by evening after a trip to Athirappilly. He told her not to inform about this at home.
Athira (26), wife of Sanal of Parakkadavu in Angamlay, went missing on April 29. Sanal had lodged a missing complaint with the Kalady police. As Athira had not taken her phone, it was difficult to trace her tower location. When examined the CCTV visuals, it was found that she had gone with Akhil from the supermarket in a car. Both were working in the same supermarket. Akhil confessed to the crime when questioned after taking him into custody. He also admitted that he had dumped the body in a forest near Athirappilly. Athira has financially helped Akhil. He told police that he committed the murder when she asked him to return the money. Reports said that he chopped her body into pieces after killing her.
