KOCHI: Controversial movie 'The Kerala Story' has hit the screens amid protests. Several organizations staged protests in front of theatres in Kochi and Kozhikode. The film was screened in 30 theatres across the state under heavy police protection.

'The Kerala Story' is a really good movie, according to some viewers who saw it. "What is there in this film to create controversy? Several girls have gone missing in our state. Nobody knows where they are and what happened to them. This is a very good film. People should come and see it with kids," a person said after watching the film.

Meanwhile, the BJP staged a protest in front of the Carnival Theatre in Downtown Hall in Thalassery after the theatre owners refused to screen the film. Following this, the film was screened after the police intervened.
