RIYADH: Two Malayalis who died in a fire at their residence in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, have been identified. Abdul Hakim (31), son of Yusuf, a native of Malappuram Kuttipuram, and Irfan Habib (33), a native of Melmuri, are the Malayalees who have died. A total of six people, including four Malayalis, died in the accident. The other two Malayalis have not been identified yet.
The fire broke out in the building in Khalidiya, Riyadh where the petrol pump employees were living. The fire reportedly broke out at 1:30 a.m. on Friday. The accident happened to the newly hired people at the petrol station. Three of them had received Residence Permits (Iqama) on Thursday. Initial reports indicate that the fire broke out due to a short circuit from the AC in the building. The bodies are kept at Al-Shumaisi Hospital Mortuary in Riyadh.
