NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that Operation Kaveri, which was implemented to evacuate Indians from Sudan, where internal unrest is raging, has been successfully completed. The Indian Embassy in Sudan has also stated that all Indians in Sudan have returned home.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced that 3862 people who wanted to leave Sudan have been brought back to India. The mission was under the Indian Navy and Air Force. Today 47 more people were evacuated from Port Sudan to Jeddah by military plane. Jaishankar congratulated the officials who were part of the mission and thanked foreign countries including Saudi Arabia for helping in the mission.

Operation Kaveri was started nine days ago. Five naval ships and 17 air force aircraft were used for the mission.
