THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is indicated that CPM's investigation commission has found that the failure of the Thrikakkara by-election was caused by flaws in the organizational structure. CPM had appointed a commission comprising AK Balan and TP Ramakrishnan to look into the controversy and confusion in the selection of candidates. CPM Secretariat also considered the reports of two other commissions that looked into sectarianism in the Palakkad and Alappuzha districts. Alappuzha was examined by a commission consisting of PK Biju and TP Ramakrishnan and Palakkad by a commission consisting of Anavoor Nagappan and KK Jayachandran. The state committee meeting starting today will discuss and approve the action proposals.

CPM has assessed that the result was affected in Thrikkakara because Arun Kumar was advertised as a candidate and the wall writing was done before the candidate was even decided. It was blamed that presenting the candidate became a mishap. CPM is of the opinion that there has been no leakage of votes even though it is a sitting constituency of the UDF. The proliferation of government systems in the constituency become a misfortune as well. It was also observed that organizations such as the SDPI and the Welfare Party conducted organized campaigning for the UDF, resulting in a drain on the minority votes that the Left Front would normally get. It is learned that the party is finding that undesirable trends are increasing in Alappuzha and Palakkad.

AI camera was not discussed

The AI camera related corruption controversy was not discussed in the state secretariat. Neither the Chief Minister nor the party secretary gave an explanation in this regard in the meeting. However, CPM has decided to defend the issue politically. If the matter is raised in the state committee, the leadership may explain.
