THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KP-Bot robot placed in front of police headquarters to welcome visitors has been removed. The robot was the first in India to take service in the police department. The government gave the robot an SI rank while placing it in front of the headquarter in the capital. The police also bragged about the technical prowess of the robot that makes it acquire information from people reaching the headquarters to visit the DGP or other officials.

The face of the visitor will be etched into the robot's system and will be stored perpetually. MLA M K Muneer raised the query regarding the robot inside the assembly when the stoppage in service came to light.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the robot on February 20, 2019. In just four months' time, the robot ceased working. The CM justified the removal of the robot for people not using the robot service. The robot was made on a huge budget specially reserved for reformation in the police department.
