THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Malayalam filmmaker has come out claiming that the screenplay of the controversial film 'The Kerala Story' was his work. Young filmmaker Yadu Vijayakrishnan claimed that he was the one who wrote the script of the film. Speaking to a news channel, Yadhu said that despite working for the film, the crew did not even mention his name in the thank you card of the film.

"In 2017, I worked with Sudipto Sen, the director of 'The Kerala Story', on a documentary related to Jihad. In 2021, he asked me if I have a suitable script to make a Hindi film on the same subject. I then wrote the one-line story. Once it was approved, I started working on the script. The final draft was prepared after a year of discussions. However, the production company withdrew the contract which mentioned my name as the scriptwriter soon after I handed over the script," Yadu said.

"I continued to cooperate in the works, including the location hunt of the film, after they informed me that a new contract will be made. However, in the new contract, it was stated that I was a consultant. They reduced my previously announced remuneration. I backed off from the film due to the terms of the contract. However, when the film got released, I expected that they would include my name in the thanks card. But it did not happen. I decided to reveal the matter as the makers did not mention my name even in the end credit scene of the film," Yadu said.

Yadu said that 'The Kerala Story' is a film with a big purpose and he was not interested in taking legal action. "I'm not against the film. However, I think that the makers will do something about the matter," he said.
