THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There was a major ganja haul in the capital city. The excise team seized 100 kilograms of ganja brought from Andhra in an Innova car at Kannettumukku, near the administrative center of the state. All four people in the car were arrested. The locals chased one of them and caught him.Vishnu, Akhil, Ratheesh and Karingadamukal native Ratheesh are the four arrested. Akhil was former secretary of Sanskrit University, Vanchiyoor Centre. However, he said that he has no connection with the party now.
Reports said women and children in the car fled from the spot. A search has been intensified for them. It is believed that the women and children were brought along to make people feel like they were traveling with family. The number plate of the vehicle was also fake.
The ganja was smuggled in a rented car. The team who rented the car in the name of a tour first went to Andhra and smuggled the stuff from there. After learning from the GPS that the vehicle had run continuously for 1300 km, the owner of the vehicle became suspicious and informed the excise. In a search, the car was found near a hotel near Kannettumukku and was taken into custody. The excise team arrived when they were trying to hand over the vehicle to others, including the ganja. Reports said some of those arrested are accused in several criminal cases.
